Step 1

Submit an Application

After paying the MIAD Tuition Deposit, the first step is to submit your application as soon as the application portal is open. Please read the application carefully before submitting. The Tenant and Cosigner need to submit a separate application. All tenants must have a cosigner.

If you are using financial aid, from any source, to pay rent you must contact the MIAD Financial Aid Office. MIAD will send confirmation of available financial aid to 252, LLC. Students with confirmed financial aid will be permitted to pay rent after their financial aid has been distributed.

Step 2

Sign the Lease Agreement

After you have made your MIAD Tuition Deposit and submitted your Housing Application the Landlord will review your application and send you a lease if you are approved. Leases must be electronically signed by both tenant and cosigner and returned with a security deposit within 1 week of being issued. Leases outstanding more than a week will be cancelled and applicants will be moved to a waiting list. The $225 security deposit is due upon lease signing (security deposits may not be rolled over for returning students).

*The lease is a legally binding contract – contact Two50Two for any questions prior to signing.

Step 3

Roommate & Lifestyle Questionnaire

After you have made your MIAD Tuition Deposit, submitted your Housing Application, and paid the $225 Security Deposit, MIAD Housing Staff will send you a Roommate & Lifestyle Questionnaire where you will indicate your roommate preferences. Only one roommate may be requested for the Housing Survey.

Please note, MIAD takes every effort to accommodate your housing preferences, but your preferences CANNOT be guaranteed.

Step 4

Packing & Planning

After you have completed all paperwork and have been successfully admitted to the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and Two50Two Housing, it is time to pack and plan your move! MIAD will determine what day Fall Move-In is (usually in August). For most of our tenants, it is their first time living on their own. We are here to make your transition easier! Please check out the Move-in Guide and read the College 101 section!

*Less is more when packing due to limited storage within your unit. View the Floor Plan when planning on what to all bring with you. Most students comfortably fit one carload of belongings in their dorm.

Step 5

Move-In Day

Your Move-in Day is determined by MIAD (dates are sent out usually by early August). With many students moving in at a time, it is important to follow these guidelines!

  • Do not show up earlier than your expected time. You will be asked to wait at MIAD's parking lot until your time slot. Directions to the Parking lot can be found below.
  • Do not bring a Uhaul, trailer, or other box truck. These vehicles are not permitted in the garage, and you will not be able to unload them.
  • Do not order any packages sent until after you have moved in. They will be returned and not accepted.
